Teaching for The Culture: Aural Instruction from Black Music Traditions

Aural learning is a key feature of Black music traditions. In this session, Rosalind-Denise Rogers will share the history and significance of aural music learning in Black and African communities, how we can incorporate these approaches into strings, and what our students could gain from doing so. The session will feature examples of culturally informed pedagogy and sample lessons that can be applied in your own classroom.
